The Elyria W.I.N (Women in NAACP) Unit began 18 years ago. Every year they hold a Mother's Day Brunch, which has been going on for nearly as long. At the 2012 brunch on May 12th, Mr. Albert James (A.J.) Kennard, Ross Incineration Services, Inc. associate,
was named the second male to receive the Male Parent of the Year award. The annual award categories for the organization usually only include a grandmother, mother and young mother of the year recipient. In recent years however, W.I.N has come to recognize and celebrate the men in the community who are raising their children on their own.
"In such cases, like for single females, you have to be both mother and father. It is commendable when we see men step up to take responsibility for their children in a caring and nurturing way. We appreciate them for doing their best to lead, guide and direct their children as they grow to be model young men and women in our community," said LaTaunya Conley, Secretary for the Elyria NAACP W.I.N. Unit.
This honor, bestowed on A.J. is a gripping reminder of the character of our associates at the Ross companies. A.J. has been with the Ross companies for several years and along with his fellow co-workers continues to bring excellence both inside and outside of Ross. Congratulations on your recognition A.J. You bring pride to everyone wearing "Ross blue."Last Updated ( Tuesday, 07 August 2012 09:17 )
